 I was born in Columbus , Georgia 53 years ago. My grandparents were first generation immigrants from Aguascalientes, Mexico. My ideas about what is possible and what is impossible  have changed throughout my life experiences. I would like to invite you read about myself in order to understand how I have arrived to to the development of Acaraya Aesthetics: A Skin Care Consulting Firm based in Harker Heights, Texas.  As a  leading skin care specialist, I would like you to have a little more insight as to how I believed in a dream and have begun to see how planting seeds throughout the past 20 years have seeded tremendous international growth and interest in the science of medical aesthetics.

1984 Aesthetic Journey

I began my journey in aesthetics quite serendipitously. I was personally associated with a facial plastic surgeon in Meridian, Mississippi. As a  young nurse  working alongside the Cosmetic Surgery Center physicians I was responsible for the public relations of this practice. As I listened to these individuals discuss their feelings about their aging appearance. I was astonished to find a consistent desire on the women requesting how to have better cared for their skin before surgery. The question/concern expressed was " how to have better cared for their skin so they would not have had to been so traumatized through surgery. The second part of that question/concern was " how am I to maintain a healthy skin" after surgery. A common denominator for the women seeking cosmetic surgery was their request to know how to keep their skin from appearing so aged despite chronological or biological ageing process. I was just a young nurse filled with anticipation for life and working with women fearing age was disheartening but it did serve as an impetus for me to preserve my own skin appearance.

 I was attending classes at the Meridian Junior College  ( music, voice lessons,  communications,) during this same time frame. I was told by a young physician to always " seek knowledge, never stop learning and do not focus on achieving degrees but focus on learning as much as possible." I  have learned to keep take courses that were of interest and to focus on living a multidimensional life.

One day this physician and I were seeing patients in the little hospital next to his surgery center. A female patient was so disfigured from both the accident that tore her face and the stitches that were placed on her face to keep her together. I asked this doctor what else is going to be done to help this lady recover. He said " nothing" she will have to live with the scars. I was so upset to know nursing nor surgeons could help this young lady any further.

I began seeking skin care products, cosmetics and camouflage information from this point. I continued to work with the surgeon while taking  classes to keep myself mentally stimulated with life. In 1986 I realized if ,I was going to help the facially disfigured, I needed a more formal education in aesthetics. I also found that standard aesthetic education was not enough to prepare me for what was going to become a life long passion. Very quickly, after much research I registered in Boston, Massachusetts for the best aesthetic program in the United States. It was life changing experience. In 1987 I opened the first Clinical Skin Care Center in the state of Mississippi. The skin care center was never developed to compete with dermatologists. The general medical community did not consider aesthetics an an important component in the overall management of "patient care".  I was met with some antagonism, generally from the dermatologist.  I wanted to to work in concert with their general medical  diagnostic care but add the component of preventive-preemptive science-based skin care protocols.

This skin care center would be of benefit to the community differently than seeing a dermatologist. As a Skin Care  Specialist I learned so much of the dynamics of product ingredients, treatments and procedures that dealt with "aesthetics" . The treatments and protocols were no way competing with the dermatologist dealing with disease.  In 1990, I came to Dallas, Texas to become a director of marketing for Cest Francias, a French skin care company. I was troubled quickly to find too much selling and not enough of skills for aestheticians. I began to develop another idea for implementing a more clinical foundation with more effective skills to enhance an individuals outward appearance to couple the internal changes of aging. I arrived in Temple, Texas only a few months after leaving Dallas. I approached Scott and White Hospital, Division of Plastic Surgery after 4 attempts to  speak with someone that would listen to my ideas, I met Dr. Charles Verheyden on my final fifth attempt. He gave me a chance to implement my ideas. It was successful. So much has been accomplished!
